Meredith Moon

Meredith Moon is a distinguished economist and leader with a diverse career spanning multiple sectors, including economic development, government finance, and international research. As the Chief Economist and Director of Economic Competitiveness at the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation (MDEDC) from 2023 to 2024, she established an in-house economist team for the first time in over two decades. Her strategic updates to economic reports significantly enhanced efficiency, and her consulting work surpassed revenue targets by 155%. Meredith's expertise and dynamic presentations impacted over 2,800 stakeholders, including C-suite executives and public, private, and nonprofit boards.

Before joining MDEDC, Meredith served as the Finance Manager at the Energy & Carbon Management Commission, where she provided strategic oversight of fiscal matters and implemented new financial assurance processes. Her tenure at the Governor’s Office of State Planning and Budgeting as the Deputy Director of Budget/Tax and Economic Development saw her lead economic and revenue forecasting and manage significant state economic stimulus packages, including the $700M Colorado Recovery Plan.

Meredith's role as a Senior Economist at the Legislative Council Staff involved forecasting state revenues and analyzing fiscal impacts of proposed legislation. She also led an internal communications team, advising on best practices for engaging with legislators and stakeholders. Her academic background includes a Master of Arts in Global Finance, Trade & Economic Integration from the University of Denver, and a Bachelor's degree in Latin American Studies and Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin.

Her early career includes international experience as a Research Fellow at the Frederick S. Pardee Center for International Futures, a Research Assistant at the Josef Korbel School of International Relations, and an intern at the U.S. Department of State. Meredith also has a background in bilingual advertising and translation, having worked as a Copywriter/Translator/Editor at Dieste, where she significantly increased client response rates and managed editorial content.
