Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 with benefits

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical evidence-based Research Analyst who can provide high-quality unbiased research on key public policy issues. The ideal candidate will be adept at conducting rigorous research, synthesizing complex data, and producing clear, accessible reports that inform policymakers, stakeholders, and the public. This role requires a commitment to neutrality and an ability to navigate and analyze sensitive topics with integrity and objectivity. As an upstart nonprofit, the ideal candidate will be someone who can be flexible, take initiative, and work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and Analysis:

    • Conduct comprehensive research on a variety of public policy issues including education, healthcare, public safety, and transportation.

    • Collect, interpret, and analyze qualitative information and quantitative data from diverse sources.

    • Develop recommendations based on empirical data.

  • Report Writing:

    • Prepare clear, concise, and thoroughly researched reports, policy briefs, and white papers.

    • Ensure all written materials are fact-based, neutral, and free from political bias.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Present findings to internal teams, policymakers, and external stakeholders.

    • Respond to queries from media, government officials, and other entities regarding your research.

    • Participate in public forums, panels, or briefings as a subject matter expert.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with other analysts, researchers, and data scientists to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness in research.

    • Engage in peer reviews to maintain high standards of analytical rigor.

    • Collaborate across departments to integrate multidisciplinary perspectives into research.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • Track and evaluate the implementation and impact of public policies.

    • Stay informed about current events, policy debates, and emerging issues relevant to your area of expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Master’s degree in Public Policy, Economics, Political Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred

  • Experience:

    • 3-5 years of experience in policy analysis, research, or a related role.

    • Demonstrated ability to produce nonpartisan, unbiased analysis.

    • Experience with data analysis tools and research methodologies preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

    • Familiarity with a wide range of policy areas (e.g., healthcare, education, economic policy).

    • Quantitative and data visualization skills a plus, including fiscal analysis, budgeting, and cost-benefit analysis.

    • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

    • Strongly committed to unbiased, evidence-based research and data analysis
